“The single most important issue for…people is to find a sense of safety in their own bodies.”

-Bessel van der Kolk

Craniosacral therapy works to restore your body’s natural rhythms after trauma, injury, or illness. Cranial work addresses the underlying mental and emotional issues related to different body parts. Sometimes, you may experience a “somatoemotional release.” This looks different for each person, but means you were able to release emotions your body has stored. As this happens, you will find a greater sense of peace and safety within your body. We believe feeling safe in your body is a prerequisite for healing.

But how does this treatment work? Your brain and spinal cord are surrounded by fluid that is constantly filling and emptying. There is a healthy rhythm – an ebb and flow – just like your heart beating or lungs breathing. When our craniosacral rhythm is altered or diminished, it can have an impact on your overall health. Furthermore, the “rest and digest” part of your nervous system originates from the cranium and sacral regions. If there are restrictions present, this greatly impacts your nervous system and state of mind. Following a trauma, people often find themselves stuck with a heightened nervous system which depletes energy and health over time.

When you receive cransiosacral therapy, it will feel extremely gentle. This treatment can be done throughout your body and works to elevate your craniosacral rhythm and restore your body’s natural motions. Craniosacral therapy also utilizes energy work in order to heal and process.

Craniosacral therapy can help decrease pain and dysfunction, boost your immune system, and support overall health. This type of therapy is commonly used to treat headaches, migraines, jaw pain (TMJ disorders), neck pain, chronic pain, anxiety,-related disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, and pelvic pain
